"How Good am I Being to Myself?"

Updated: Apr 1, 2025

It is time to take at least a few minutes or more if you can, to ponder the question:

"How Good am I Being to Myself?"

Do we "ALWAYS" work around things/people or do they work around us?

"MOST TIMES" will equate with ALWAYS for the purpose of this subject.

Many of us make major sacrifices for the Well-Being of others and this is undoubtedly commendable! Don't stop! Doing good for the benefit of others is something that we should all do. In Giving we receive and doing unto others as we would want them to do unto us is a golden rule.

Now then, let's get to the part about being Good to Self. In all things, Balance is necessary.

You are definitely a person that also needs care and consideration. Many times we are so busy making sure that everyone else is taken care of, that we don't have enough time to pamper self, so, we learn to take comfort in knowing that when everyone else is good, we can get some peace when we are sleeping. When this happens day in and day out. That can add up to a lot of self neglect.

A lot of my clients are teachers, nurses, busy professionals and many people of whom employed in areas were productivity takes precedence over individual or group needs. They have a heavy workload, so much so, that don't even get to take restroom breaks when they need to, so, they hold it until time permits. They skip lunch and grab a snack if that. Some people get 30 minutes to get and eat food before clocking back in. The same people are also spouses, parents, friends, and they have parents, etc. I can hear the choir behind me saying "yes Lord help me!

I can definitely understand your call. The picture has been painted, and we have signed our name. Now then, what can we do? It's not like we can see ourselves eliminating these aspects of our lives, but recognizing that they are taking a toll is something that cannot be denied or ignored. That is a point of concern, right? And

This can contribute to health concerns.

How do we cope with the load and still care for self?

  1. Set a plan in place and write it down.

  2. Stick to the plan. This will help you to eliminate a lot of extracurricular activity.

  3. Get a calendar and pencil in at least 1 hour in your day/work schedule that is just for you.

  4. Prepare nutritious meals and snacks to have on hand to conserve time and prevent the quick grab of non-healthy fast foods to re-supply needed energy. This will prevent the grab of non-nutritional items for convenience's sake.

  5. Meal Prep on your days off so you can have healthy meals that are readily available.

  6. A Good Multi-Vitamin can do wonders for replenishing what is lost from stress and a heavy mental load of work.

  7. Relaxing in a warm tub, is like a giant hug and can help relax tense muscles.

  8. Make time to get a massage as often and you can even if it is taking 10-minute turns with your partner daily.

  9. Put on a comedy and enjoy a good Laugh. Laughter is a great medicine.

  10. Exercise is also a great way to reduce stress, promote a good night's rest and loosen tense muscles. a nice walk can be refreshing.

  11. Remember to focus on deep breathing in through the nose and slowly released through the mouth.

  12. Focus on what is good in life and nature
